Guido Guidi: The Early Black-and-White Bundle (1969–82)
SIGNED Copies
Take both volumes together and you get a fuller sense of Guido Guidi’s early black-and-white work. Di sguincio (1969–81) has the charge of experiments made up close—flash-lit, shot off to the side, sometimes without the viewfinder—catching people, gestures, and bits of space in abrupt encounters. Album (1969–82) revisits the same years through rediscovered negatives and prints, newly edited into a sequence where family and friends sit alongside empty streets, shadows, and solitary objects—often bearing traces of earlier captions and groupings.
Ordered as a pair, the books show two ways of working: the quick grab and the careful reshaping. Together they map the beginnings of Guidi’s practice, and the questions that already run through it—what a photograph records, what it leaves out, and what changes when it’s sequenced and revisited.
